FYI...this is just to confirm that Burt and Terri Gulick are divorced.  I just received an email from my former emerald with an attached message saying that Executive Diamonds Burt and Jackie Gulick would be speaking.

The stage was set...for the "greatest internet explosion" in history...Quixtar was "partnered" with Microsoft in what would be the biggest business on the internet. We were so lucky to be part of this. Luckily, 9-1-99 happened at around the same time I started looking around the internet for more information, and happened upon Jeff Probandt's website. I also found Ruth Carter's website (www.mlmsurvivors.com)

My husband and I joined "the business" in late 1996. We were sponsored by a professional couple in Maine who did a really good job of giving credibility to the opportunity. We did manage to get to the 4000 pin level, but showed a loss of around $9500 per year in 1997 and 1998 due to the books, tapes and functions. We moved from Maine to Texas in April 1997 and remained plugged into the system for two years. I flew to a function in Boston in the spring of 1999, and the hype about Quixtar was UNBELIEVABLE. I mean, it now just gives me the creeps to think about that function and the feeling of euphoria that was in the air. When I got home to Austin, though, our upline was already pressuring us about the next function, and when we told them that we just didn't have the money to fly and pay for the hotel rooms and the function, my direct told me that I should put it on my credit card. I had this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. I think what saved me was NOT listening to her advice.

I began unplugging myself from the endless stream of tapes that were so much a part of my life at that point. Luckily, I was still young, had a good, stable job in health care and was able to start saving in my 401K and Roth IRA's.

My husband and I are good, hard-working people, and we thought we had an opportunity to make some extra money - if we worked hard enough at it. We were told that it is a numbers game, and I have no doubt that it is. We were told to show the plan at least five to six nights a week, and success would follow. We were told that not everyone would want to do the business, so we never had to worry about saturation...and besides, they said, we need someone to deliver our pizza and clean our houses when we go diamond. We were just looking for those three or six that would take this thing and run with it. Elitist, heartless mentality (with a Christian base).

What we weren't told is that the real money is made off of the support system and suckers like us. There were only about a billion red flags. For example, why couldn't we order the white board for showing the plan from the Amway catalog? Why did we have to order it from our upline's tool system? This was so that the upline could keep track of how many white boards were "flowing" through their group...this was their way of keeping track of how many people were out showing the plan. What a crock. Why, when we asked about the rule in our start-up kit that said we had to have ten customers, did they tell us that it didn't apply to our line of sponsorship...that we were exempt from that rule? The list goes on and on.

Thanks for all your hard work. You have undoubtedly saved hundreds, if not thousands of people from this cult. I have been unplugged from this thing for six years, and it still tears me up to think about how utterly brainwashed I was. This is not something to be taken lightly.

Sincerely,

Donna

You can add my marriage:  Robert and Diana Fisher Colorado Springs, Co.  Bob became obsessed with Quixtar's greed and lies.  He became an entirely different person after joining Quixtar.  Sadly, it ended in divorce because I could not stand the group.

HI, i've been checking out your website and many other sites regarding this amway issue. I'm not that clever and i just want to know whether amway can give me some good income. I'm 23 years young and the sole supporter of my family in africa (mom, brothers sisters dad etc). I'm desperate for extra income and my question is at present i only earn £15k which is really peanuts. i don't know what the word savings is because it is impossible, can amway help? I'm thinking yep, all these diamonds have quit, but surely they must be financially better off and are able to venture into new investments or whatever. Maybe i should get to that level emerald and above and quit.

i live in the uk and i'm part of the britt team. i can't stand the meetings anymore because after viewing this websites, i've realised how people can actually worship someone and not realize what they are doing. i'm no longer in the standing order books and tapes as i realized i can get the tapes from ebay at a fraction of the price.

i know something evil is happening at the top, but can i go in and make an extra buck to feed my family, or do you know of anything better? Help is required here. i'm quite confused at the mo, and i really don't know what to do.

help!!!!!

Hi Shem,

Without making money from the tools you will have a hard time making any money.

You have to understand people are attracted to the cult aspects of the business.  If you break from Britt you cannot be in a position to make money from the tools.  Then you have to rely on product sales.   Have you tried to retail the products?  Do people also find them expensive in the UK?

Scott

Hi Scott!

Thanks for replying. The products, I have to say, are quite expensive. I just spent about £140 last week to do my shopping and when you see what you get for that amount, your heart sinks a little bit! I've tried retailing the products but with little or no success.

I've been in network marketing for three months now and it's quite hard and expensive to be honest. You can argue that all business are hard, but that's not the picture painted when you hear about network marketing from someone who is involved.I like your websites because they expose the truth about network marketing.

Are you involved in any network marketing business at the moment or have you decided to be totally agains it. Plus tell me what you think of BO Short's new company passport.

Thanks again for replying. Your help is invaluable, and will not only help me, but alot of people as well. I sincerley thank you and congratulate for having the courage to speak the truth about corporations with alot of money and power.

sincerely,

Shem.

Hey Scott, long time since I last mailed you.

Thought you may like to add the marriage break up of Bernie & Janet DeSouza (UK Diamonds) to your list.

i just read your website on Amway, you hit the nail right on the head. It's good to see that i'm not the only person that thinks "the business" is a scam of tools and products sold on the hopes and dreams of middle america. I was able to get out and recover finaniclly and now i'm going back to school to study computer networking and make some good money with the 40/40 plan lol. i bought into the biz when i was 19 and spent 4 years and thousands of dollars in it. i could of just flushed that money down the toliet and been done quickier. thanks for your courage to fight the Amway monster and i wish you luck in your future after the biz. Jamie Nettles was my upline emerald, it's funny that you mentioned him on your site. keep up the good info people need to hear it.

J.

Hi Scott:

I enjoyed your website.  You've done a lot of work and research!  I was involved in WWDB for many years, never achieving even 1,000pv.  I got a lot out of it though and now manage a successful mortgage company in Northern California.  When I joined WWDB, Hank and Karla were rubies with a fast-growing business.  They went diamond after the ILD split.  A few years later Hank's upline wanted to rejoin WWDB.  Karla joined Hank at their return but I never saw her again after that.  I heard that their marriage had fallen apart a long time before their return to WWDB.  Hank would show up to most WWDB functions (by the way, I "quit" 4 1/2 years ago), sit in the back and talk to friends most of the time.  I don't think he was a diamond (upon his return to WWDB), knowing that he was a marginally qualified diamond at the height of his business.  Hope that helps.

Regards,

Terry

Hi Scott,

Our upline diamond was Jack Pawlak, who was under Nolan Dunlap, who was under Ken Stewart, under  Gooch, under Yager.

We stuck with it for about 4 - 5 years, then enough was enough.  It was starting to take up too much time and way too much money.

There were some positives that we took from the whole thing.  Some of the books that we had purchased were excellent.

Anyway, glad that chapter, in our lives, is behind us.

Talk with you soon.

Robbie your cousin

Hey Scott,

Yes, Brian and Dedrie Herosian are still in the "biz". I guess when your an EDC and
you are making sooooo much money you have the time to open other busiess. No
sarcasim there.

They must be making so money that his wife has opened an online cake store.

www.lilyfieldcakes.com

You should do a page on them on your Quixtar humour link.

Chad

HI Scott,

Thank you for you're website, you're doing this planet a real favor by taking on amyway/quixtar and exposing it for what it really is. I wanted to express my gratitude for the solid work you've put into your website. I've never got into amway, but I've had friends and family end up buying products from that riduculous organization. I appreciate your tenacity and applaud your efforts, please don't stop.

A fan from Canada,
Tam

A company that has different rules for different people, is a company you want to stay away from!

Quixtar has a rule that you can have no other network marketing business as long as you’re an IBO.  What it truly means is if you’re a little guy you can’t do these things outlined in the rules of conduct.  I know Emeralds that are building another networking business, Quixtar has been informed and as always does nothing! No thanks, anyone that gets involved with Quixtar isn’t looking for a business but a cult to follow!

Hey Scott

would be curious to know what other options these people are doing that have wrote these negative letters about the business.  If they had moved on to something more successful for them then I applaud them but I am going to guess that most of these people are still at a dead end job which they hate and have tried other things which also they have quit at. I not go to disagree with you on all your information. This business is about people and unfortunately there are a lot of bad people in this world who will abuse the system for their own benefits. I am still trying to figure how a roofing business can go out of business in South Florida. It makes you wonder.  Like any business you need to use your head a lot and make sure you balancing your personal budget each month.  I was in the old Amway business may years ago and was part of a system that did abuse the system and I lost money in this venture.  However I know I must be rare because I am an IBO again but under a different system which I have seen does not abuse the system and is very upfront with what they are doing and I applaud them.  The literature they are using is very inexpensive compared to what I was using years ago.   I wrote to you before about the stacking concept which I like much better. You stack one leg to save money and then build a second leg to start to make money and then a third leg to get independent from your current job and that’s it.  I personally sponsored by a former Diamond who doesn’t qualify anymore and not admits it.  He was telling me how he was abused as a Diamond in this business.  But he has been basically teaching me that you can make money on just three legs and everyone has to be a business builder in those legs which that is a totally different philosophy from years ago.  If you were not in the system you were the step child and now they realize only a few people are going to be business builders in those legs and they treat the non business builders the same. I think it’s interesting. They also disclosed to me which I was never told this in the past that in this system you actually have the opportunity to make money on the system which is a second way to make money but we are told that from day one. So they admit to me that they are making money when I buy a tape. Hey I have no problem with that as long as I like the product & service then they should make money.   Anyway I am sure you heard enough and as I said yes I do agree with a lot of what is in your site because people ruin this business as well.  You just need to be smart I guess.  Thanks for taking the time in reading it.

 Mike

I would like to add something to your excellent analysis of Quixtar.  As you no doubt know,  they prey on vulnerable people who are not only anxious to make extra money, but also are starved for friendship or to belong to something they think is worthwhile.  These people, of course, are extremely susceptible to a cult that seems like a mainstream business.

Also, many of the king pins in Quixtar are trained in the ministry.  They have taken their training in getting converts for church and used it to get recruits for the "business."  They not only seduce their recruits into believing they can make a lot of money, but they persuade them that they care about them personally and that the recruits can benefit from the "fellowship" (a commonly used term in chruches) they will find in the "Quixtar family."  Since the people they successfully recruit are often so starved for this "family" relationsip, they will spend anything to please those above them so they can be considered a part of the "family."  Many of the recruits soon realize they are not making money, but they are constantly bombarded with the taped information you refer to which brainwashes them into believing they will make money if they just work a little harder (and run off what friends they did have by trying to pressure them into joining the business).  After they have become isolated from previous friends and totally immersed in the Quixtar family, they often feel helpless to make the break.  Of course, going to their meetings for fellowship involves purchasing the materials you refer to, and these materials, in addition to being a money-maker for Quixtar, are tools to keep the recruits brainwashed.  Quixtar is truly a dangerous and destructive cult.  The Quixtar king pins do not care how many of their recruits drop out as long as the organization makes money from them initially.  They just move on to more vulnerable people, and there are plenty out there.

Hey Scott,

Great pages!  I just thought I'd share a "back of the envelope" calculation that I found interesting.  Assuming the percentages of those who qualified as diamond, emerald and Q12 are based on the 380,300 basis of distributors, there are about 1155 IBOs who are Q12, emerald and diamond.  Sapphires are notably absent from the list. It could also be that executive diamonds aren't there because there weren't any.  These 115 IBOs (67 diamonds, 160 emeralds, and 928 Q12s) account for about $62 million of the total Quixtar payout. That's enough to reduce the average monthly income from $82 to $68.  An IBO who is buying 2 tapes a week and 1 book a month, spends about $67 per month, not counting gas at $3 a gallon to pick them up.  Of course, some IBOs aren't buying any "tools," while others are totally "plugged in."  Conclusion #1: If an IBO typically buys 2 tapes per week and 1 book per month, then system expense will consume all of the Quixtar income, and average participation at any higher rate will result in a net loss for the typical IBO.

I assumed $6/tape at 4.3 weeks per month, and $15 per book, but I didn't include the shipping charges which I believe are customary. Assuming that a tape costs about $1 to product, and a $5 discount from retail when buying books in volume, it's reasonable that $45-50 of the $67 spent to participate in the system will end up in the hands of the directs and higher who operate the system. Conclusion #2:  Given conclusion #1 above, system income will exceed 70% of AmQuix income.

None of this, of course, is new.  For the record, Sapphires aren't included and neither are executive diamonds. And it depends on getting the number of IBOs right as well. If I'm right, it's no wonder that the system operators push going to seminars, open meetings, leadership meetings, sales promotions and major functions.

As a side note, reducing the number of distributors from 380,000 to 251,000 yields the reported average income of about $120 (from $82). Of course, if the good folks at AmQuix actually showed us the calculation, we'd see for real how the fiction of the "active distributor" inflates average income.

Best regards,

Paul

Hi Scott,

I thought that this might make a good addition to your website. Brian Heorisan who is a EDC out of Winnpeg, Manitoba, Canada. Is trying to do
"negative" control with is group in regards to Bill Britt's fling.

The word is that he is having Bill Britt fly to do an attitude session. All the info that you need is on his website.

It a really good source for a lot of other info.

I would appreciate you keep my source confidental.

Enjoy,

Hey Scott,

Brian Herosian is part of Dave Taylor (who split from Lorna) EDC, then to Rex Renfrew. Brian Herosain was entrusted with the BWW Canadian leadership
by Bill Britt.

Frank Mikolas, Diamond (out of Edmonton), Bobby Britt, Diamond and Andre Blanchard, Crown (out of Quebec) plugged into Brian and Dedrie.

The whole thing tanked after 2001 when Frank Mikolas and Brian had some heated arguements around tools. Frank and Brian agreed not kick up a lot of dust and settle thier differences by just breaking off from one another.

Frank's group has really done downhill ever since.

Brian has always portaryed himself as this narsistic ex-football jock. He hates rumours, the rumours really started flying around just before the summer started.

Brian always kept a really tight grip on his leaders so it doesn't surprise me that it took this long for the Bill Britt news to filter into his group.

Joe Scubert(sp?) is a diamond that transfered from his group over to WWDB about 6 years ago. It was the same reasons why Frank Mikolas's group broke
off.

Hi,

My husband and I met a very nice couple recently. We had a lot in common and exchanged numbers to keep in touch. But they seem eager to get me involved in this "association" that helps moms work from home. I can't find anything on the Internet about this "association" which they referred to as T&E International. Then I found your Web site, which refers to this company. The couple is very vague about T&E and won't give me details unless I agree to a "three-step process/interview". I'm already turned off but am curious about this T&E and how it scams people. Thank you.

T&E is a line of sponsorship in Quixtar aka Amway.

Scott

Dear Scott, Hi there once again ! If you remember, I corresponded with you a couple of times in the past 3-4 months. As the information I’m passing on to you is very sensitive in nature, I’m not disclosing my identity in this mail.

A BIG TSUNAMI in BWW India business :

KantiHemi Gala move out of the BWW system affiliation and go forward with their decision to start their own support system !!! Not only that, but with them they are taking 7 other Diamonds, 1 EDC and 1 Double Diamond !!!

That wipes out nearly 60 % of BWW India business in one go !  After their exodus, there are hardly half-a-dozen India-based Diamonds left under BWW – India.

Although they are trying to play down the issue by keeping the matter close to their chest, it’s definitely dealt a blow right between their legs where it hurts most !  The issues that led to the break-away as per the grapewine are mismanagement of the tools money, ego, etc.

I request you to keep my identity secret.  Thought you should know about this.

While I do believe a system is necessary to build an MLM business, the abuse of general unsuspecting public’s money must stop.  I really don’t know whether this is going to bring about a positive change or whether it’s going to be a case of milking the cow and feeding it to the dogs !

Regards.

Scot I spent ten years of my life developing the business, I achieved the platinum level in Bernie DeSouza's group, I passed up promotions at work based on his advice I also witnessed him telling students to give up their Degree to build the business only to see them follow his advice and then also quit the business further down the road. He de-edified his platinum's and above to their groups in order to build loyalty to him, thus he is now down to 4 platinum's standing by him when actually at his peak he had over 100 silvers and above.

Janet his wife has left him and sadly only two people out of the CARING amway distributors called her to ask if she was ok and why she was leaving her diamond husband of 15 years. He is very badly in debt  and has left debt at various hotels around Warwickshire (uk) The DeMontford Hotel recently sent a bill out to 40 ex distributors who have now either left or joined another organisation only to find the money was paid directly to Bernie DeSouza. He has denied all knowledge but fortunately for them they all have proof of payment.

I have been told he is currently running at £100,000 of debt and is desperate to sell his house to cover it, I am also aware that he is blaming Janet his ex wife for taking him to the cleaners. Sadly his debt is so high that there will be very little left for Janet after the fees and debts have been paid. Janet is currently working in a shop and has resigned from the business to get away from the debt he is accumulating.

Bernie has slagged off the all the diamonds in the UK and as a result has no friends here. His relationship with Yager is now on very thin ice as his exploits are now coming to the surface. I adored this man, I followed him like a lap dog and he repaid me by lying to my group and  belittling me behind my back.

Existing distributors in his group need to ask where have all his leaders gone, his reply to me was either they were having an affair on drugs or their ego was out of control. Now maybe this could happen to one or two but not all of them. Why don,t you ring them and find out the truth!!!!

Bernie is also being investigated for fraud, he has gained money by deception for a gas drilling operation with a diamond in Belgium. Now although I believe the opportunity was genuine none of the investors have received any return nor paperwork of any kind and it is highly dubious that the funds actually left his account.

On leaving IBS , all the tools were refunded, in the region of £100,000, we were told that they refused to pay and Bernie kept the money, this is also being investigated by Amway.

I have seen people who were growing and were 100% loyal to Bernie disappear. Great speakers and motivators in his group suddenly no longer there. It is known through out the rest of Amway that Bernie Desouza cannot be trusted and I feel sorry for some of the people that are still there being fleeced for cash in the name of tools and functions and this is the only way he can keep his head above the water. If any one is in GTS and has the number of an ex platinum call them and ask them why they left. and if anyone is considering joining GTS let them know they are on a road to nowhere.

I love the Amway business and what it stands for, but sadly there are unscrupulous individuals always ready to take advantage.

I would like you to post this info without prejudice in order to try any help anyone that has the unfortunate situation of being involved with Bernie Desouza.

Bernie also knows some very shady characters in the local area so I would appreciate this being sent out anon.

I loved the business, and it will always be a big part of my life but sadly I do not think I want to be involved in it anymore.

Kind regards

Ray & Jackie Newton Diamonds (UK) (divorced) and quit business At one time had one of the largest most profitable Amway businesses and were written up in

You should check that nearly all the diamonds in the UK divorced and quit the business

Infact Amway in the UK was a disaster for many Amway distributors

Ray Newton

Hi Ray,

If you want to post your story on my site, just send it over.

Scott

Will do, when I get a couple of minutes. It will need some explaining due to the fact that throughout its early stages - until the mid 80's, there was a rather unfortunate unique (to Amway) feature built into its UK arm. It was this that affected many distributorships right in the boom days. I saw it coming long before it hit, and warned both the local UK administration, and also Grand Rapids.

However, like almost every 'warning' most people do not see it until it happens.

It was corrected later, but by then the damage was done.

Ray Newton

Incidentally the book I was trying to mention was by Charles Conn (I always felt he had an unfortunate name for talking the legitimacy of a business) I forget the title though I have the book somewhere but it was about and Eagle or Eagles which was in the title.

If you find the book we are mentioned in there. We are also in a Brit published book on Amway Diamonds called - 'The First Eleven'

Hi

I had Joined Quixtar in may and I have dropped out. My Dream is to own my own business, but not that way. I was seeing this guy and he is still involved with
Quixtar. He thinks that's going to make him rich. He has been in it for 3 years. His friends and i are still waiting to see all the money that he claims he is going to make. I have been to the meetings. I have listen to the cd's. I couldn't believe how many ppl feed on this bull shit. Why is it that they have to buy Cd's every week. The other part that gets me is how you have to spend $300.00 a month to get 100pv. Oh and in order for you to get your 100pv there are certain products that you have to buy. I live on my Own, I dont even spend 300.00 a month for my apartment. When you add up all the Cd's and 300.00 well you well be paying close to 600.00 a month. Oh and get this. When you become a IBO you have to pay to go to the meeting. If these ppl wanted to help you so much why do you need to pay to go to a meeting , which they say is a must on Tuesday and Thursday night plus to have to buy Cd's to hear a bunch of ppl talk about how the system works.
I have read some of your stuff on the Amyway/Quixtar.  And let me tell you it was some pretty good info.  Do you Believe what these ppl say are true and you
really make money of this system.  Oh and another thing. My Friend that is involved with Quixtar try to get get me to not go back to school. But the thing is that is all i ever wanted to do , just didn't have the money. Why are they so for not going back to school?

Thanks for your time

Scott
I have read your site for awhile now and I probably agree with most of what you say in it. I was in it in the past and reached a small level in the business but
you are right I did spend a lot of money on tapes and functions. However the one good thing was I did create a nice habit of reading which has helped me a lot.
Well since then I have started it again and the reason is because this organization discloses every thing including the support system. This business actually
under Casey & Jeannie Combden called InterBiz will give profit of the business to the business people. I have never seen that before. The past people that I worked
with in this business were crooks. The bad part of an mlm business it is run by people and some of them are crooks but that is like the real world isn't it. We
read about it in the news all the time. I am telling the way they set it up now it is so much different.
They don't use the 6-4-2 method. That doesn't work. We work on just building two legs to make an income and then a third one to be independent. My sponsor was a Diamond and he admits the past business was horrible and he is really up front with me with everything. Is Casy perfect hell no and he has his fault but goodness you cant find a perfect business man. But you are so right so many people took advantage of people in this business its a shame. I want to change that reputation. I am so much up front with people now about this. Does Quixtar have issues heck yea but I do like the products and yes I dont buy the things that are to high in prices but i do buy a lot. I would like to continue talking about this.

Mike W

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the note.
Can you expain more the two legs plus one more to be  independent?
I have not heard of this one before.
Scott

Scott
You are right I never heard about it either. I had some long talks with this former Diamond about all of this and it made a lot of sense to me. What they talk about
is building an A league to 10 deap and then a B leg to 5 deap...That is a start. but your goal is to get 20 deep in the A leg and then 10 the B leg. You put your
own personals in the same leg you dont go wide like the past. when you have the two legs where you want it then work on the 3rd leg. My sponsor basically says you dont have to go diamond to make money. He feels less people will do that anymore..It is there if you want to but you need to build depth not width anymore.. I never heard that before. When you get to 20 deep in A and 10 deep in B then Interbiz will start to give you option of profits from the business side.. I never heard that before. Casey even said it in a tape. It is one of the best tapes I have ever heard because of the disclosure of it. The numbers they use are realistic numbers not
these crazy numbers I heard in the past. They dont push the system to you however they do tell you that is a separate business if you want to be involved in that.
Scott dont people like Trump and other very wealthy people make money on their own system if you want to learn from them. comment?

mike

I thoughly enjoyed your web site. It was particurlarly attractive as my daughter has recently become "brainwashed" by Quixtar and I was looking for ways I could help open her eyes to what was really occuring.

However, I was disappointed to find that when I entered my name and email address to download the "Merchants of Deception", I never received a return email with the link to same. I was hoping it might provide more information on how I might help my daughter.

Regardless, your site was very helpful. Thank you.

Larry

Hi,

I read on the Internet about the Network 21 being sued for selling Skill with people copies.

I am a member of Network 21 and the copies I got some years ago from Net 21 were fine.

Since Net21 has not been able to provide more copies of it in a long time, I bought three copies from the Amazon.com and I definitely got copies of the book.

I even sent a complaint e-mail to Amazon.com telling them about this but they just advised me to contact the person who sold them to me and/or return them if I was not satisfied.
Maybe you already know but I just wanted to let you know.  I was quite upset when I got them.
