Amway Canada announces layoff

As Amway Global continues its transformation, we have been looking closely at best practices and efficiencies in all we do. This evaluation has resulted in changes to Amway Global's Canadian operation.

Effective with the March 2009 edition of the Choices Catalogue, Canada will take advantage of the buying power of our North American resources by co-buying catalogue merchandise with the U.S. to achieve efficiencies and cost savings.

In addition to how we buy merchandise, we're also changing the way we fulfill orders. Effective January 26, 2009, the majority of Canadian orders* will be picked and packed at our state-of-the-art Spaulding distribution facility in Ada, Michigan, and then shipped to the London facility for Canadian distribution. Our goal is to continue to provide our Canadian IBOs with the high caliber of service they have come to expect.

Unfortunately, these changes will affect a number of Canadian employees whose positions are being eliminated. Employees affected by this change will receive generous severance, outplacement counseling, and other benefits.

Due to the sensitivity of this announcement, we are collapsing the leadership protocol and will be sharing this information with Canadian Diamonds and U.S. Diamonds and above with substantial Canadian businesses; and all Canadian IBOs later today.

Rest assured that our commitment to the Canadian market remains strong. We will continue to work closely with and support all of our IBOs in Canada to help them build profitable, dynamic, and balanced businesses.
